Howard Irvin Fisher, Sr., was born October 18, 1938, in Johnstown, PA. He joined the Air Force as a young man and was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base as a mechanic. It was during his time in the Air Force that he met Beverly Sneesby. The two were married December 12, 1959 and had been married for fifty-seven years. After his time in the Air Force, Howard began working for Homestake Gold Mine in Lead as a timber stope contractor and later as a shift boss until his retirement in 1993.
Howard will be remembered by many in the Black Hills as a good man. His family mourns the loss of a good man. His family mourns the loss of a good and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Howard of Rapid City, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017, after a long battle with COPD. He was 78 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Joann Fisher,(Sneesby), of Rapid City; five children, Howard Fisher, Jr., of Deadwood, Randy Fisher of Lead, Stephen Fisher of Deadwood, Shelly Fisher Rodriguez of Rapid City, and Terry Fisher of Washington; sixteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Oak Ridge Cemetery near Deadwood with Pastor David Baer officiating.
