Obituary

Ida Mae was the daughter of Theodore C. and Mary (Graf) Renelt of the Twilight area and lived all her life on the family ranch. She attended a country school at Twilight (Heston School) and high school at St. Martin's Academy in Sturgis for 4 years because her father wanted her and her sister, Betty Anne, to have a religious education! She obtained a teaching certificate at Black Hills State College and taught for 3 years at country schools. She married a neighbor boy from Mud Butte, Richard Orwick, son of Christ and Kathryn Orwick, on July 9, 1950. She always loved the ranch life, working with livestock and horses, being a helpmate to her husband, and taking care of the cattle, sheep, and horses.

She enjoyed sewing and her garden but killed all houseplants. She was active member of the Western South Dakota Sheep Grower's Auxiliary and served as president. She was treasurer of Union Township for 20 years and was on the election board for 20 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Mud Butte.
