Obituary

Inez Anne Clarin, 85, of Spearfish, died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at the David M. Dorsett Health Care Facility in Spearfish.

A memorial has been established to the Hospice of the Northern Hills.

Closed casket visitation will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Wednesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday April 6, 2006 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Pastor Harold Delbridge and Chaplain Charley Conger officiating. Burial follows at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.

Inez was born Sept. 20, 1920 at Ethan, to Henry and Lola (Kenyon) Holt and older siblings, Ella (Holt) Cammack, Charles Holt and Doris (Holt) Schleuning.

Before school age the family moved to Cooper, and later to Minnesota. At Pine River, Minn., Inez attended first grade and at Mildred, Minn., she attended the second grade.

Grades three through six were completed at Cooper and grades seven through 12 were in the Rapid City School System. She was in the graduating class of 1938.

Inez married Oliver Clarin on June 25, 1941 at Kelso, Wash.

To this union Vicky (Clarin) Wahl, Lynn Clarin, Lon Clarin and Janette (Clarin) MacNeill were born.

As a married wife with two kids she worked at home near Box Elder, and in 1947 the family moved to Stoneville. She was active in supporting 4H, and all school activities involving her kids. She was a member of the Stoneville Steadies Extension Club that published two history books of Central Meade County in 1963. In 1965 the family moved to Sturgis and she again worked for the Post Office and retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1975.

Inez enjoyed many handicraft activities. While at Stoneville she enjoyed learning ceramics which later lead to fulfilling art pleasure with porcelain. Later in life she looked forward to visiting with family and activities with Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile.

She held many offices in Eastern Star, and was active in Past Matrons and Daughters of the Nile.

Survivors include daughter Vicky and Jim Wahl with family of Anne and Kenny Stahl, children Cody, Lisa Faron and Peggy Wahl, children Adania and Dustin, Carl and Tina Wahl, and Carl's step children Ian Rurka and Jim Skallenger, Jeff and Tracy Wahl and son Conger; sons and daughter of son Lynn and wife Sharon, David and Patty and daughter Regina, Mike and Judy and daughter Jayden Lynn, Cindy and Aaron Ohlson; son Lon and Maryann Clarin and Lon's step children, Julie Silver and her son Brandon Halverson, Lauren Malcolm; daughter Janette MacNeill with family of Dan and Ann MacNeill, Keely MacNeill.

Inez was preceded in death by husband Oliver, son Lynn Clarin and daughter in law Sharon (Ginter) Clarin, sisters, Ella Cammack, Doris Schleuning and brother Charles Holt.
