Ingeborg Harriet "Inge" Bayless, 92, Eagle Butte, died Saturday, March 17, 2007, at the home of her daughter in Sturgis.
She was born on Aug. 18, 1914, to Sam and Gertrude (Mork) Moland at Colton. As a child, she moved with her parents to a homestead northwest of Eagle Butte. In January 1939, she married Ray Bayless. To this union three children were born.
She was a very devout Christian and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Butte, where she provided piano music for services and Sunday school, taught Sunday school, and held several offices in the church and ladies aid. She also had many other talents and interests, some of which included sewing most of the clothing for her three children and sewing for other family members; crocheting many beautiful doilies, many of which she gave to others; gardening; cooking delicious meals; baking, (there was never a lack of goodies at her table) favorites of the family and grandchildren were the ice cream buckets of sugar cookies she made and gave to them and her lefsa. She loved to take care of others and would often bring meals to those who could not prepare them for themselves. She was very frugal and could live on very little, but always seemed to have plenty.
Survivors include one son, Ira Bayless, Eagle Butte; two daughters, Eileen (Jerry) Malcolm, Sturgis, and Janet Bayless (Guy) Simons, Piedmont; seven grandchildren, Audey (Nina) Anderson, Opal, Corena (Daryl) Carmichael, A.C.(Michelle) Simons and Kolt Simons, Bennett, Colo., Eileen Bayless, Clinton, Mont., and Royce (Libby) Bayless, Pierre; two step-grandchildren, Lyle (Tonia) Malcolm, Belle Fourche, and Lisa (Travis) Tobin, Grand Junction, Colo.; 14 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Borghild Curtis, Eagle Butte; a favorite cousin, Florence (Ken) Halligan, Pierre; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 41 years, Ray Bayless; one grandson, Melvin (J.R.) Anderson; one granddaughter, Baby Girl Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Audie James (A.J.) Anderson and Tyler Ray Anderson; one sister, Virginia Coffin; three brothers, Thomas Moland, Oscar (Ray) Moland and Leif Moland; and three infant siblings.
Visitation at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at UCC Church in Eagle Butte, with Pastor Wayne Olson officiating. Interment will follow at Eagle Butte Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorials to the Hospice of the Northern Hills or the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, Minn.
