Irene Tammi, 79, Sturgis, died Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Sturgis Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be noon until 9 p.m. on Monday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Rev. Michael Fox officiating. Burial follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established.

Irene was born April 24, 1932 at Bismarck, ND, to Christ and Katie (Rohrback) Schumaker. She attended country school in the Arpan area. After completing her education she worked at the hospital in Belle Fourche.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Leo Tammi, Sturgis; two daughters, Diana Hobbs, Lead, Doris (Doug) Roger, Richards, TX; two sons, David (Marla) Tammi, Sturgis, Daniel (Trishelle) Tammi, Sturgis; one brother, Oliver Schumaker, Salem, SD; five sisters, Helen LeLaCheur, Sturgis, Alice Walthall, Sturgis, Edna Cox, Sturgis, Joann Pope, Ashford, AL and Hazel Brink, Sturgis; also 20 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Rudolph, one sister, Delores, and an infant brother and sister.
