Ivan Shonley, 91, Sturgis, Died, Thursday March 5, 2015, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.

Ivan was born November 7, 1923 at Hillside, SD near Mitchell, SD to Theodore and Lena Shonley. After 8th grade he worked for his father as a carpenter. In 1943 he joined the US Navy and participated in the Seabees. In 1946 he returned home to South Dakota.

Ivan married Margaret Strand of rural Mitchell they had one son (Douglas), and was divorced in 1956. Ivan married Dottie Ulmet in 1960 she preceded him in death Dec 26th, 2014.

Ivan built many custom homes and commercial buildings in the Mitchell area. In 1976 he moved to the Black Hills and started a development in Boulder Canyon known as Boulder Park Subdivision. Later he also developed more land that came to be known as Boulder Canyon Subdivision. Ivan had Alzheimer's the last ten years of his life.

Visitation will be on Thursday March 12, 2015 from 5 - 7pm at Kinkade funeral home, Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday March 13, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis with Rev. Denzel Nonhof Officiating.

Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery National Cemetery near Sturgis.
