Obituary

Jake Dimond, 27, of Rapid City, South Dakota, left us far too soon on March 31, 2026.

Jake was born on June 17, 1998, at Rapid City Regional Hospital to Sylinda Riley-Dressel (Dimond) and Mike Dimond. He was raised in Rapid City, where he built a life centered around family, hard work, and the things he loved most.

From a young age, Jake was known for his humor, his laugh, and his ability to make others smile. He had a natural way of bringing light into a room and leaving a lasting impression on those around him. As he grew older, that same spirit stayed with him, and he became someone people could count on for both a good laugh and a steady presence.

Jake was a dedicated and skilled heavy equipment operator who took great pride in his career. Outside of work, he found joy in racing and fishing, passions that gave him both excitement and peace. Whether he was behind the wheel or out on the water, those were the moments he felt most himself.

Family meant everything to Jake. He shared a close bond with his mother, Sylinda Riley-Dressel; his father, Mike Dimond; and his stepfather, Clarence Dressel. He was deeply loved by each of them, and his presence will be missed in ways that words cannot fully capture.

Jake is survived by his mother, Sylinda Riley-Dressel; his father, Mike Dimond; his stepfather, Clarence Dressel; his grandfather, Jim Riley; and his stepsisters, Paige Kolb (Wil) and Kendra Dressel.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sandi Newton; grandmother, Lois Dimond; grandfather, Smokey Jensen; great-grandmother, Glenna Davis; great-grandfather, Robert (Bud) Davis; great-grandmother, Ella Dimond; and great-grandfather, Jake Dimond, who are now waiting for him at heaven’s gates.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM in the Fine Arts Building at the fairgrounds in Rapid City.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Working Against Violence, Inc. (WAVI) and/or Safe Place of Eastern South Dakota in Jake’s memory. We encourage anyone in need of support, including men facing abuse, to seek out the resources available to them. No one should have to face it alone.

Jake will be deeply missed, always loved, and never forgotten
