IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Edmund
Adams
December 28, 1940 – December 8, 2018
James Adams, son of James and Marguerite (Castle) Adams, was born on December 28, 1940, in Sioux Falls, SD. He grew up there and received his education and worked with his father in the family excavating business. He then entered the United States Marine Corp.
Jim was united in marriage with Shirley Davidson in 1961, in Sioux Falls, SD. The couple resided in Sioux Falls and California while he finished his enlistment. The couple had six children and helped raise any others that found their way into the couple's hearts and home.
Shirley passed away in 2001. After her passing, Jim kept busy with his children, grandchildren, and then his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels at the city park and enjoying the fresh air of the great outdoors. Jim loved the outdoors, whether it be camping, fishing, or hunting with his sons and grandsons. Recently he got to experience a wonderful time with his son, Jim, going into the hills on the side by side and enjoying the places he loved so much that he hadn't been able to visit due to his stroke.
On Saturday, December 8, 2018, James E, Adams passed away after a long-fought battle at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Fort Meade.
Grateful for having shared his life are his sons, Jim (Kathy) Adams, Whitewood, SD, and Joe (Sam) Adams, Billings, MT; daughters, Denise Adams, Belle Fourche, SD, and Pamela (Carl) Bartlett, Pierre, SD; sisters, Mitzi Baustian, Gussie Lewis, and Susan Thomas; brother, Bud Adams; 17 grandchildren, Jeremy, Jimmy, Chris, John, Nic, Billy, Sidney, Amanda, Robert, Cole, Josh, Trent, Kevin, Zach, Danielle, Rachelle, and Syerra: and 31 great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Shirley; two sons, Chuck and Allen; grandson, Tony; sister, Pauline Hanson; and brother, Robbie Castle.
