James F. R. (Jim) Albertson, 85, passed away December 5, 2020 at Avantara Nursing Home in Redfield, SD.

Jim was born July 1, 1935 in Bison, South Dakota to Clarence and Ruth Albertson. He grew up in the rural areas of northwest South Dakota and eastern Montana and learned to love the life of a rancher. Elementary school years were spent in Camp Crook, and he later moved with his family to Nisland where he graduated in 1953. After graduation, Jim served in the army and then returned to ranching life in western S. D.

In 1970, Jim married Dixie Flack Ackerman. They had one son, Leslie Jay, who joined two older daughters, Robin and Betty Jo and one older son, Lynn.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ruth, his sister, Eleanor Travis, three brothers, Roland, Wayne and Gerald and two nephews, Robert Bisgaard and Lynn Albertson.

He is survived by his son, Les (Lisa) his granddaughter, Paisley, two step-daughters, Robin and Betty Jo, one brother, Frank Albertson and one sister, Charlean Swanson.

A celebration of life is being planned and will be held at a later date.
