Obituary

James Allen Wranek, 66, Summerset, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Department of Veteran's Affair's, Ft. Meade.

James Allen Wranek was born on November 8th, 1947 to John N. and Mildred (Shanahan) Wranek at Burke, SD. He was the third of four boys and spent his childhood growing up on a farm south of Colome, SD.

He was united in marriage to Mary (Hibbs) on January 17th, 1970 at Colome, SD. To this union, three girls were born.

Jim graduated from Colome High School in 1966 and the University of South Dakota at Springfield in 1972. He taught school until June 1979 when he took a full-time job with the South Dakota National Guard. He retired on January 31st, 2006 as an E9 Sargent Major with 41 years of service.

Jim loved to hunt, fish, and watch his grandkids participate in all activities. Jim took an active part in his grandkids school, basketball, baseball, football, soccer, dance, gymnastics, and choir. His favorite pastimes were watching Dale Earnhardt Jr. with Nascar, the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, and playing cards.

He was a life member of the South Dakota National Guard Enlisted Association, ENGUS, American Legion, and DAV. He was also a third degree
member of the Knights of Columbus.

Jim is survived by his wife Mary of Summerset, SD; daughter Tina Daly (Eric) of Chaska, MN; daughter Cynthia Haase (Kraig) of Hayti, SD; daughter Jacqueline Blaha (Dustin) of Summerset, SD; nine grandkids, Jackson, Taylor, and Madison Daly; Kaleb, Kamron, and Carlie Haase; Alexandrea, Keegan, and Jayce Blaha; brother John Wranek of Colome, SD; brother Al Wranek (Mary) of Silver City, NM; brother Dave Wranek (Marcia) of Mitchell, SD; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Mildred Wranek and his grandparents.

A memorial has been established.
