Obituary

RAPID CITY | James A. Dryden, 67, joined his Heavenly Father on April 2, 2014.

He was born Jan. 3, 1947, in Victorville, CA. He served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy, completing three tours in Vietnam.

"Papa Jim" married Patricia Crawford on Aug. 20, 1993. During their life together, they gave each other more earthly treasures and experiences than anyone could ever ask for. They enjoyed the simple things together and were true soul mates.

Jim held Pat tight when she was most scared and calmed her nerves when most needed. Most precious of all, they held each others hands through thick and thin. They were each others protector and showed one another the true meaning of love.

Jim is loved and will be missed by his loving wife, Pat; three step-daughters, Susan Overstreet (Jason), Sturgis, Joanna McBride, Rapid City, and Amy Janis, Hot Springs; 16 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mick Dryden; and sister, Evelyn Tanner.

Per his request no public service will be held. Instead, his family will gather for a celebration of his life and perfect health and happiness that he is now experiencing.

Jim's family would like to thank Regional Hospice of the Hills and their dedicated staff for the loving care, support and compassion.
We truly appreciate your help during the last few weeks of Papa's life.

Jim loves God with all his heart, and now he has heard, "Well done my good and faithful servant."
