James Michael Veale, 52 of Sturgis, died Friday, November 4, 2011 at his home in Sturgis, SD after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services will be Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Larry Green officiating.

James was born September 3, 1959 to Elmer and Paula (Martini) Veale in Arcadia, CA. He grew up in and graduated from high school in Temple City, CA. James then attended Fresno City College and graduated with a degree in criminal law. James worked several jobs in the Fresno area and then in Utah before moving to and settling in South Dakota in 1999. He was route delivery for the Rapid City Journal for several years and most recently was a stockman at Wal-Mart and worked at the Recycling Center in Spearfish. James enjoyed camping and fishing and loved to do yard work.

James is survived by the love of his life, Sherry Hayford of Sturgis; two sons David (Amanda) Veale of Visalia, CA and Aaron Veale of Vale, SD; one daughter Karlie (Shane) Mason of Oceanside, CA; his mother Paula of Visalia, CA; two sisters Tammy (Brian) Flint of Visalia, CA and Janell (Gary) Kelley of Hermosa Beach, CA; one grandson, Dillon James Veale of Visalia, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Elmer James Veale, sister Kathy Rebuck, his paternal and maternal grandparents.

A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.
