James Bradley Whalin, 65, of Rapid City, SD, died July 18, 2022, at Monument Health Rapid City hospital.
James "Jim" was born March 28, 1957, to Courtlandt and Elaine (Leis) Whalin in Rapid City, SD. Jim grew up in Rapid City and lived there his whole life. Jim was a master in his craft of Auto Body. He could literally fix anything and actually made his daughter her first car. He was a very talented artist. Jim LOVED fishing and Christian caught his first big fish with Papa Jim. He loved to smoke meats and was very good at it all the way from fish to ribs and of course turkeys.
Jim lived hard, worked hard, and partied even harder.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Whalin of Rapid City, SD; one grandson, Christian Jaeger of Rapid City, SD; brothers, John (Toni) Whalin of Rapid City, SD, Mike (Kris) Whalin of Colorado Springs, CO, and Dan (Julie) Whalin of Shelton, WA; sisters, Cindy (Rick) Engle, of Sturgis, SD, and Pam Whalin of Olympia, WA, as well as countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Courtlandt and Elaine (Leis) Whalin, brother, Terry Lee, and nephew, Johnny Whalin.
Jim will be missed dearly.
Celebration of life will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the South Picnic Shelter at Spearfish City Park.
