Janet Arlene (Symonds) Brink, 77, Belle Fourche, passed away Monday, October 24, 2016, at her home in Belle Fourche.

Janet was born October 16, 1939, in Sturgis, SD, to Harry Cecil and Genevieve (Belhumeur) Symonds. She attended and graduated from Sturgis High School where she met Leland Keith Brink. Janet and Leland were married in Sturgis on February 21, 1959.

The couple followed construction for two years in Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota. They moved to Hulett, WY, where they spent the next 36 years. During those years, Janet raised her children, loved working in her garden, managed a motel, and owned a gift shop where all the little school kids came to know it as the candy store, one of her favorite places. After retirement, they moved to Belle Fourche where Janet continued to take care of her family and work in her flower gardens, her two most cherished things.

Survivors include one daughter, Debra Brink, Belle Fourche; one son, Murel (Christie) Brink, Gillette, WY; and two brothers, Dick Symonds, Belle Fourche, and Tom Symonds, Sundance.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Genevieve; her husband, Leland; one son, Bart Leland; one daughter, LaDonna Lynn; three brothers, Melvin, Darold, and Wayne; and one sister, Virginia.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with Pastor Jenene Earl officiating.
