Janet Marie Fearon, 68, Rapid City, died Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the VA Black Hills Health Care Center, Fort Meade.

Committal services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.

Friends may gather at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel prior to leaving for the cemetery.

Janet was born August 5, 1942 at Huron, SD, to Orvel Maynard and Dorothy Lucille (Roberts) Schmit.

She grew up in Huron and graduated from Huron High School. She enlisted in the Navy and served as a clerk in administration. She was honorably discharged and returned home.

Janet lived in many places throughout her life. She worked as a waitress, telephone operator, bank teller and several other occupations.

She married Francis Fearon at Broomfield, CO on December 21, 1984.

Survivors include her daughter Renee (Scott) Kracht, Summerset; her parents, Orvel and Dorothy Schmit, Huron; one brother, Thomas Maynard (Cheryl) Schmit, Las Vegas, NV; three sisters, Leona (Bernard) Kowalke, Spearfish, Cindy Gabert, Rapid City, Linda (Donald) Schuetzle, Wittman, AZ; and granddaughter, Madison Lynn Marie Kracht.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Francis. She will be buried with him at the Black Hills National Cemetery.
