Obituary

Janet Kay (Cox) Rauscher went to be in the loving arms of Jesus February 25, 2014. She was born May 23, 1954, in Cheyenne, WY, to John M. and Gloria G. (Miller) Cox.

In 1955, Janet's father, who was in the United States Air Force, was transferred to Germany. Janet, accompanied by her mother and older sister, Deborah, traveled by auto to New York City then by boat to join the girl's father in Germany. They spent the next two years enjoying Europe. Upon returning to the states, the family made their home in Port Washington, WI, where a baby sister, Susan, was added to the family.

In 1968, the family moved to Lakewood Colorado. Janet graduated from Alameda High School in 1972.

Janet married David Rauscher July 29, 1980, at St. Charles, MO. The happy couple lived and worked in Denver until they decided to leave the big city and relocated in Lead, SD. They enjoyed the small town and the beauty of the Black Hills.

Janet enjoyed home decorating, jewelry making, and shopping. She loved her pet dogs and birds. They were her babies.

Janet was a member of The Shepherd of the Black Hills Lutheran Church in Lead. She served on the council, worked with the quilters, and ministered to the Elderly in her community.

Janet also volunteered at the Lead Animal Shelter working with the animals.

Janet will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Dave; her mother, Gloria Cox; sisters, Deborah Truesdale and Susan Janecek; sisters-in-law, Marie (Lance) Carter and Eileen (Michael) Ward; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Master Sergeant John M. Cox, and all her grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at The Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lead.
