We are heartbroken to announce the loss of our darling mother, Janet Carol (Bauman) Rust, who's life ended peacefully at Monument Health Sturgis Senior Care Center on July 18, 2022. Janet got her wings and went to walk with the angels. She was 77 years old. She was very loved and will be sadly missed. She was a well-respected member of the Nemo community.

Janet was born in Huron, SD, on January 7, 1945, as the middle child, to James Oliver and Harriet Irene Bauman. Janet married Ronnie Lee Rust on February 7, 1966, and moved to Rapid City. She had 5 children, Robin, Jeff, Colleen, Brian, and Rhonda, who filled her world with purpose and happiness. She was more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children. Anyone who knew her children, knew that she was the moon and stars in their eyes, and that's all that ever mattered to her.

Janet worked in many different roles, being a mother was her greatest accomplishment, she also built homes, taught culinary arts at the Job Corp, and managed the restaurant in Nemo. Janet was well-known for her cooking, baking, and embroidery talents.

Janet is survived by son, Jeffery Todd Rust (wife Lauri); daughters, Colleen Renee Tracy, and Rhonda Jan Wood; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, many beloved friends, and neighbors.

Janet is preceded in death by her father, James Oliver Bauman; mother, Harriet Irene Bauman; son, Brian Daniel Rust; sister, Dianna Rae Burkel; brother, Richard James Bauman; husband, Ronnie Lee Rust; and daughter, Robin Danielle Bult.

If you would like to pay your respects, you are welcome to attend the funeral service we are holding in her honor at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2022, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with a visitation to begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Nemo Cemetery.

All donations can be made to either the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in care of Janet Rust or to Rhonda Wood for expenses.
