Janet was born September 19, 1959, in Sturgis, SD, to William Howard and Alyce (Sparks) Boyer. Janet was called home to be with her parents on June 21, 2018, at Sturgis Regional Hospital. She fought a short battle with cancer.

Janet met the love of her life, Dave Schone, on a blind date with her sister, Jill. They fell in love and were wed on March 4, 1978. To this union was born three children who were her life: two sons, Russ and Tyler, and one daughter, Steph.

Janet's family always came first in her life. She was a stay-at-home mom, working only when the kids were in school. When the kids grew up, she then found her new-found love, her grandchildren. She was an avid Packers fan and John Wayne fan.

Janet is survived by her husband, Dave Schone; sons, Russ (Cori) Schone, Box Elder, SD, and Tyler Schone, Spearfish; daughter, Steph, Sturgis; five grandchildren, Jordan, Grayson, Jennifer, Brennen, and Kaelyn "KaeKae;" one brother, Bill (Roxy) Boyer, Sturgis; four sisters, Ann (Rick) Catron, Pleasanton, KS, Jill (Doug) McCabe, Mosinee, WI, Ellen (Philip) Egeberg, Brookings, SD, and Julie (Mike) Sullivan, Deltona, FL; brother-in-law, Joe Schone, Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law, Lori (Schone) Clinton, Plainview, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marilyn Boyer.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Baer officiating. Burial will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.

A memorial has been established for the John Wayne Cancer Foundation.
