IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jean Irene
Schieffer
January 2, 1932 – February 15, 2015
Jean was born January 2, 1932, near Weldon, MT, to Jennie V. (Lukin) and Lawerence D. Lockhart. She spent her childhood on her parent's homestead in the badlands of Montana. She always loved ranch life and missed it always. She had great stories about all the fun she had with her 2 closest siblings, Mary and Jim. They spent a lot of time on horseback. She boarded in Circle, MT, for her high school years.
She was united in marriage to Theodore "Ted" Schieffer on November 6, 1950, in Circle, MT. She always thought him to be the handsomest man. Unfortunately they only had 26 years together before he passed away in 1976. They lived in Circle, MT, and Wisconsin before moving to Beach, ND, where they farmed and owned a shoe repair business "Ted's Shoe Repair" in Beach, ND and Sturgis, SD. In 1963, they bought "Carl's Confectionary" renaming it "The Sturgis Confectionary." Many residents have fond memories of buying Candy and Magazines there.
In her later years, she joined The Sturgis Senior Center where she loved to play pinocle. To her great sorrow, none of her children played it. She worked at the Senior Thrift Store until her death. She truly loved the job and her co- workers there.
Jean Irene Schieffer, 83, Sturgis, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015, in Rapid City, SD.
