Jeanne was born Jeanne Marilyn Mc Clure on September 23, 1924, in Aurora, IL, to Dr. Chauncy McClure and Doris Lillian Benson McClure. They later moved to Valley Springs, SD, where she graduated from high school. She went on to college, and later met and married Cecil A. Reed on May 19, 1946.

Jeanne and Cecil had five children, four sons: Richard, Timothy, Jeffrey, and Mark Reed and one daughter, Deborah (Reed) Borton. During their marriage, they lived in various states: Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Nebraska, to name a few. They always had a love for South Dakota and moved to Rapid City in the late 1960's and she resided there until present.

She spent many years as a caring parent and working along with her husband in various businesses. For a time, they owned hospitality businesses, and she was involved as a partner in these endeavors.

Later in her life, Jeanne went back to school for Nursing and became an LPN. She spent many years caring for others. She shared her great capacity for love and caring at various facilities: Rapid City Hospital, Westhills Village, Hot Springs VA, Ft. Meade VA, and Victorian Assisted Living Home until she retired.

She has shared her love with her children, grandchildren, and several adopted grandchildren, as well as numerous great- grandchildren. All were blessed to share in the love and attention that comes from a loving parent and grandparent. She had a great capacity for caring and shared this with all who knew her.

Jeanne has touched many lives in her long lifetime and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, and one son, Timothy.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday March 1, 2015 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel with Elder Leonard Geidel officiating. Inurnment will be at Black Hills National Cemetery at a later date.

A memorial has been established.
