Jerald Leroy Hess, 81, of Spearfish, South Dakota, passed away on July 16, 2024, at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center.

Jerry was born on February 7,1943, to Ione and Edmond Hess in Graceville, Minnesota. After Jerry graduated from Herman Community High School, he joined the Navy.

In 1966, Jerry married Susan Hoff in Oslo, MN. They went on to have one son, Daniel. After his first wife's passing, Jerry was fortunate to find and marry Louise Langmaack to whom he wed on March 15,1969, in Herman, MN. They had three children: April, Greg, and Duane.

Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, April; his parents, Ione and Edmund Hess; and his siblings, Eugene and David. He is survived by his wife, Louise Hess; his sister, Diane Conway; and his three sons, Dan (Susanne), Greg (Melanie), Duane (Gwen); and seven wonderful grandchildren.

Services will be held at Black Hills National Cemetery on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 12:30 pm. Luncheon to follow at Countryside Church in Spearfish.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Samaritan's Purse International Relief.
