Jerilyn (Jeri) Celina Grubl died on July 11, 2006, at her residence due to an accident on the ranch.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2006, at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Sturgis, SD, with Father Arnold Kari officiating. Rosary and Christian wake service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at the St. Aloysius Cemetery.
Jeri was born October 5, 1941, at Vale, SD, to Edward and Selene (Weisz) Erickson. She lived in Vale until she was 3 years old, at which time they moved to Sturgis with her family.
Jeri graduated from Sturgis High School with the Class of 1959. She married Larry Grubl Nov. 27, 1959, at Bear Butte Immaculate Conception Church. Jeri worked at Ben Franklin in the fabric department for many years. After leaving Ben Franklin's she and Larry worked the family ranch together for 47 years, where they raised their three children.
Jeri was very active as a 4-H leader with the Alkali Troopers, The Alkali Busy Bees and the VFW Auxiliary. Her hobbies included dancing and crocheting. Jeri will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.
Jeri is survived by her husband Larry and her three children; three grandchildren; one brother; mother-in-law Laura Grubl, Sturgis; one sister-in-law; and five special nephews and nieces. Jeri is also survived by two sisters-in-law and their families; a very special Aunt Pearl Simonson from Bowman, ND, and Uncle Ty Compton from Ill.; and all of her special family from North Dakota and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Duane Erickson, father-in-law Carl Grubl and a special friend, Clifford Casteel.
A memorial has been established to the Alkali Fire Department for needed equipment.
