Jerry was born August 01, 1945, to Garold & Odetta Miller of Ainsworth, NE. Jerry had three siblings: sister, Jackie Kirkpatrick; brother, William Miller and twin brother Larry Miller.

In December 1984, Jeff was born to Jerry and Mary. In 1985, Jerry entered into marriage with his best friend Mary. In November 1986, the couple welcomed their daughter Jessie into the world. Jerry and Mary later divorced but remained the best of friends.

Jerry enlisted in the US Army in January 1965, in Omaha NE. He served proudly during his tenure of service and was stationed in Alaska, California, & Germany. In 1971, Jerry moved to Wall, SD, where he became a Pennington County Deputy Sheriff and served as the Chief of Police in Wall until he retired in 1993. After retiring from the police force, Jerry moved to Rapid City. Jerry started work at Amcon Distributing in Rapid City and this became a place of great joy for him over the next 13 years. He loved his time there and Amcon became his second family as he shared his days with his coworkers, many of whom he cared for deeply. He retired in April 2017.

Jerry Dean Miller, 71, of Rapid City, SD, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2017, after his battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Jessie; son, Jeff, both of Rapid City; best friend Mary Brown of Rapid City; twin brother, Larry Miller of Kadoka and sister, Jackie Kirkpatrick of Laurel, NE; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Garold & Odetta Miller of Ainsworth, NE.

Graveside memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, 2017, at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
