Obituary

Jerry was born in Belle Fourche, SD, on August 7, 1945, to Donald and Johanna Reid. Jerry was raised on farms in the Arpan, SD, area and 3 miles southwest of Newell, SD, during his childhood. His family then moved to Newell, SD, while he was in high school, graduating in 1963. He then attended University of South Dakota and Black Hills State University before completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the National College of Business.

After graduating, he married Sharon Smith of Cottonwood, SD. Together they lived and raised two daughters in Rapid City, SD. Throughout the years, he worked as an accountant, owned Green Hills Landscaping Company, and worked for UTI/Trimac trucking company (CB radio handle "Easy").

Jerry's farm background showed in his love for animals. He spent many hours feeding every critter that found its way to his yard, a yard he kept dark green and mowed every three days. In the summer, you could always find at least 6 tomato plants and many beautiful flowers.

Over the last 10 years, Jerry enjoyed many vacations with his wife, children, and grandchildren. We all knew his love for warm weather, but who knew how much he could love Disney World.

Jerry Leigh Reid, 69, passed away July 6, 2015, in Greeley, CO, after a short battle with cancer.

He is survived by Sharon Reid of Rapid City; daughters, Tanya (Arlen) Gerdes of Cheyenne, WY, and Tara (Scott) Koenig of Rapid City, SD; three grandchildren, Nolan, Adam, and Regan Gerdes of Cheyenne, WY; brother, Bruce (Deborah) Reid of Indian Land, SC; sister, Debra (Ken) Mitchell of Belle Fourche, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His parents, Donald and Johanna Reid, and numerous family and friends he cared for preceded him in death.
