IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jo Ann
Kay Hull
September 29, 1935 – October 26, 2022
Jo Ann Kay Hull passed away in Sturgis on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, with her loving family by her side.
Jo Ann was born on September 29, 1935, to Malden and Adeline Spencer in Custer, SD. She was the last surviving sibling of 10 children. Jo Ann's family moved to Sturgis, where she was involved in many activities, including proudly serving as head majorette at Brown Senior High School, from which she graduated in 1954. She tried to teach her daughters how to twirl batons to no avail; something we still chuckle about.
Jo Ann married Wayne Hull in 1956. To that union, four children were born: Lori, Bryan, Lisa, and Brad. Jo Ann managed a busy life raising her family while also running a daycare business for many years. She had many hobbies that she excelled at, which included crafting, bowling, and fishing, just to name a few. She later became a card dealer in Deadwood and retired as the oldest dealer in town. She was quick-witted and great at her job, and she didn't put up with any guff from customers. Jo Ann loved holidays with her family and making delicious meals for everyone. Those times will be sorely missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Lori (Rick) Tetreault, Bryan (Candi) Hull, Lisa (Charles) Headley, and Brad (Manda) Hull; grandsons, Blane, Shaun, Chuck, Tanner, Mattias, and Joe; granddaughters, Melissa, Aree, Lacey, Marisa, Chelsea, Katelin, Emma, Minnie, and Zoe; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Jo Ann's family will celebrate her life at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at Sturgis City Park shelter. Family and friends are all invited!
