Joey Keith Martin, 24, Johnston, Iowa, died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, near Des Moines, Iowa.

Visitation was from noon until 9 p.m., Friday, Feb. 3, at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday Feb. 4, 2006, with Pastor Bill Meirose at the Believers Fellowship in Sturgis. Burial follows at the Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche.

Joey was born Sept. 3, 1981 at Sturgis, to Patrick and Anita (Schnell) Martin. He grew up in the Black Hills area. He attended school in Rapid City. He moved with his parents to Enderlin, N.D., where he lived for three years, and later moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where he graduated from high school in 2000. He worked as a subcontractor in carpentry. He was very talented and did beautiful woodwork. He enjoyed his two beagles, Scooter and Lexi and outdoor activities, especially boating, fishing and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include his parents, Patrick and Anita Martin, Grand Prairie, Texas; sisters, Raven Martin, Euless, Texas, Katie Martin, Grand Prairie, Texas; nephew, Harrison Martin, Euless, Texas; grandparents, Virginia Schnell, Sturgis, Tom and Linda Martin, Newell; Geri Crawford, St. Onge; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins and his special friend, Megan Dunblazier.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, Harry Schnell and his aunt Maureen Heitz.
