John Edward Hoyer, 58, Rapid City, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at the Fort Meade VA Medical Center.

Burial with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard followed at the Black Hills National Cemetery.

John was born at Spearfish, on Sept. 25, 1947, to Harold Edward and Francis Louise (Reynolds) Hoyer. He attended school at Helena, Mont., and also in South Dakota.

John served in the U.S. Army from April 4, 1967, until his honorable discharge on June 26, 1968.

John was married to Lucy Sandoval at Denver, Colo., on May 4, 1968. They lived and raised their three daughters in Englewood, Colo.

Survivors include three daughters,two brothers, four sisters,11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

His parents; his wife, Lucy; brother, Clifford; and sister, Virginia preceded him in death.
