John Andrew Jensen, was born on June 11, 1930 in New Underwood, SD to Benhard and Eda (Pearson) Jensen. John attended school at the Eleanor and Atall schools.
John grew up working on the ranch with his father and brother Frank. After his father passed away in 1950, he continued on the ranch with Frank until he was drafted in the US Army in 1952. He spent two years in Ft. Leonardwood, MO and Mineral Wells, TX before being discharged in 1954.
John married Mary Osborn in Clarkston, WA on June 22, 1956 and they made their home on the ranch. They were blessed with four children, Robert John, Kathryn Mary, Larry Dean and Jerry Lynn. John lived on the ranch all of his life until the last few months when they moved to Spearfish, SD. John had a passion for his livestock, remembering the specific details on each one of them.
John Andrew Jensen, 85, Union Center, died Sunday, September 20, 2015 at his home in Spearfish.
John is survived by his wife, Mary, Spearfish, daughter, Kathy, Elk City, OK, sons; Larry (Tammy), Union Center, and Jerry, Union Center, grandchildren; Mandi (Dustin) Ardry, Cody, Alisha and Katey Giblet, Christina Railsback, Micole (Dusty) Braun, Taylon Jensen and Fiance Gerri Laurenz, JohnD and Dally Jensen, Jason (Ashlee) Jensen, Jennifer Jensen and Fiancee Brent Howard and Justin Jensen, great grandchildren; Carson, Caden Ardry, Shaelee Jensen and Paisley Braun. Also survived by a special brother Cecil Remington and special sisters Kathryn Spring and Arlene Osborn and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Robert (Bobby) in 1977, brother, Frank and sister-in-law Hazel, nephew Bruce Osborn and son-in-law Walter Giblet.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 7:00 pm, Thursday September 24, 2015 at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Central Meade County Community Center in Union Center with Pastor Wes Labrier and Pastor Harold Delbridge officiating, Burial to follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
A memorial has been established to the Hospice of the Northern Hills, Rural Meade County Ambulance Service, Central Meade County Community Center.
