Obituary

John Richard Moore, 84, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2015, after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family.

John was born in Mitchell, SD, on January 23, 1931, to Ralph and Laura Moore. In 1949, he joined the U.S. Army and served this country in the Korean War until 1952. In 1953, he married Dolores Pedretti where they resided in Wisconsin for 2 years before moving back to South Dakota to start their family. They moved to Washington in 1966 where they raised their family until 1976 when they moved to Deadwood, SD. John worked in his brother-in-laws welding shop for several years before moving on to working in the logging industry.

In 1994, John filled his traveling desires and moved to Guam to work with his son, Jim, in the sandblasting business. In 1997, John married Remidious Orilla and they moved to the Philippines where John retired. John spent the next many years traveling back and forth between the Philippines and the U.S. keeping in close touch with his family in the U.S. for family reunions, extended stays, and other special events. He spent a lot of time with his son Jim's family in Guam as well.

John had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, boating, listening to music, and playing pool. His greatest passion was the love of his family and it provided great joy for those of us remaining here on earth. He could always be depended on to tell great stories, reminisce about the 'old days', swing a country dance, pull you on water skis, play a game of crib, or throw in a line.

He leaves his children, John Moore, Jackie McCulloch, Tom Moore (Merrily), Jim Moore (Rose), Janet Asheim (Tim), Teri Allsup (Ross), Jill Chapman (Llee); 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pat Webster (Chuck), Linda Endorf (Gary), Mary Lou Knappmiller (Gil); and many close friends and family. John also had an extended family in the Philippines; wife, Remy; daughter, Korina; and many other family members.

John was preceded in death by his grandson, Jake; his father, Ralph; mother, Laura; daughter, Monica; and brother, Ralph Junior.

He will be greatly missed by his family and we are excited to meet up with him in the afterworld.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis with Pastor Willard Olsen officiating. Inurnment will follow at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis with military honors provided by the Sturgis Veteran's Honor Guard.
