Johnann Veren was born in 1916 in rural South Dakota. She was the third of five brothers and a sister. She married Roland Veren in 1940 and together they nurtured three daughters and a son while developing a successful farm/ranch east of Sturgis. Their legacy includes thirteen grandchildren, fifty-nine great-grandchildren, and thirty-five great-great-grandchildren.

In her near century on this earth, Johnann saw the world go from horse and buggy to men on the moon, from telegraph to cellphones, and seventeen United States presidents. She was a passionate, compassionate daughter, sister, wife, mother, and loyal friend.

Friends and family will gather at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel Funeral Chapel at 1:00 p.m. on May 11, 2013, to remember Johnann. She will then be interred next to her husband at the Bear Butte Cemetery Butte Cemetery.

Gifts and donations will be accepted by the Sturgis Senior Center.
