Jory James Russell, 27, Rapid City, died Monday, May 17, 2010, in Rapid City.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. There will be a service of remembrance beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 20, 2010, at 11:30 a.m. at the First Wesleyan Church in Sturgis with Rev. John Tesnow officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
Jory was born September 11, 1982, in Spearfish, SD, to James and Karali (Simonson) Russell. He grew up in the Piedmont area where he attended school. Jory attended Sturgis Brown High School. Jory played baseball, soccer, basketball, and wrestled during his school years. He continued to live in the Sturgis area.
Jory took pride in any work he did, such as his work at Centennial Homes, Dependable, Burge Concrete, or Dakota Radiator. He really enjoyed working with concrete and tile.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, and hiking, especially in the Big Horns. Jory also loved spending time with his son, Adam.
Survivors include his parents, James and Karali Russell, Sturgis; one son, Adam James, Rapid City; two sisters, Jessie Russell (and her son, Finn, and his father, Travis Sund) and Dennae Russell, all of Sturgis; and grandparents, Joan Sharp, Black Hawk, and Dennie and Leith Simonson, Sturgis.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa, James E. Russell.
A memorial has been established for an educational fund for his son, Adam.
