Joe Waliser of Piedmont passed away December 18, 2025.
Joseph Jerome Waliser was born January 3, 1943 in Sioux County, North Dakota to Michael Waliser Sr. and Martina (Mosset) Waliser. Joe grew up on the family ranch with his 13 siblings south of Selfridge, North Dakota.
He graduated from Selfridge High School in 1960. He then joined the U.S Army and was honorably discharged.
Joe and Carolyn Waliser were married on June 21, 1969. They lived in Selfridge, North Dakota where Joe worked for his uncle, Joe Mosset doing building construction. Joe then started his own construction company “Waliser Construction”.
Joe moved his construction company to Piedmont, South Dakota in 1984. After his retirement from construction, Joe & Carolyn started the “County Corner Café” where he enjoyed visiting with his many friends over a cup of coffee. People traveled many miles for his homemade sausage.
Joe is survived by his wife Carolyn. The were married 56 years.
He is survived by his four children; Shelly (Marvin) Walker, Steven (Pat) Waliser, Jody Smith and David Waliser, six grandchildren; Britney (Tucker) Johnson, Corey Walker, Ryan Waliser, Zachery (Lacey) Vekovius, Evan Smith, Davin Waliser, Joshua (Amber) Munro, Sarah Ellsworth, five great grandchildren; Theodore, Michael and Vincent Vekovius, Olin and Hattie Johnson, Benjamin and Katie Munro and Adalynn Ellsworth, his brothers; Robert and John Waliser, sisters; Betty Waliser, Diane Waliser and Patty Aldinger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers; Jim, Mike, Ronnie, Tony and George, his sisters; Anne, Mary, Helen and infant sister Cathleen.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, December 22, 2025 beginning at 10:00 am at Our Lady of the Black Hills church in Piedmont, SD. A Rosary will be the on Sunday, December 21, 2025, 4:00 pm at Our Lady of the Black Hills church as well.
There will be a lunch at the Piedmont VFW following the burial.
