Joseph "Bill" Andrews, 89 of Sturgis, passed away November 13, 2016, at Sturgis Regional Hospital. He was a kind and gentle soul who had been in failing health for several weeks and was comforted by his son.

Bill was born in Lead, SD, on September 20, 1927, to Nina Leona and John Henry Andrews. He attended Lead High School and worked part-time at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Lead. He married Jean Williams in July, 1957. He worked for Homestake Mining Co. for 43 years retiring in 1989 holding the title of Master Machinist. Bill especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being at the cabin in Spearfish Canyon. He enjoyed walking all of their dogs.

After retirement Bill and Jean moved to Sturgis where they loved meeting new friends and volunteering for civic organizations.

Bill is survived by his son, Rodger (Becky) Andrews; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean in 2014; his two brothers, Johnny and Leo; and his two sisters, Phyllis and Gertrude.

Services for Bill and for Jean will be held at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis on Tuesday November 22, 2016, at 10:00 AM with a reception to follow. Inurnment will be in the family plot at West Lead Cemetery. Father Tom Campbell will be officiating. We will carry their memory with us and miss them always.
