Joshua Josiah Running, age 25 years, of Spearfish South Dakota, passed away January 8, 2025 at Monument Health Hospital. Joshua was born October 31st 1999, in Rapid City, South Dakota to Peter John and Mary (Miller) Running. Joshua enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, and skiing at Terry Peak with family and friends. Joshua also enjoyed playing video games with his close friends and nephew Roman.

On March 19th, 2014 Joshua's life changed when he was diagnosed with autoimmune hemolysis that did not allow him to grow up like a normal child. He spent the rest of his childhood and young adult life in and out of hospitals and doctor's appointments; with a special thank you to his Sandford Health medical team over the years, Dr. Barbour, Dr. Milanovich, and Dr. Bleeker. Joshua did not let that stop him from spending time with the people that meant the most to him.  He lived with his mother Mary and took care of her as she took care of him. They were the dynamic duo or as some people would say two peas in a pod. They spent many evenings watching their favorite cooking shows together. Joshua was a light in so many people's lives. He had a kind heart and was quick to help anyone who needed it.

Joshua is survived by his mother, Mary Running; sister, Eva Running; nephew, Roman Running of Spearfish South Dakota.

Joshua is proceeded in death by his father, Peter John Running; grandparents, Raymond and Helen Running, and Ralph Miller; uncles, Ken Cermak and Daid Miller, along with many cousins.

A time of Sharing Memories will be held Friday, February 28 at Gentle Eagle Campground, 13194 Alkali Rd in Sturgis SD, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm.  Joshua's Celebration of life will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Gentle Eagle Campground.
