Joy Marie Collins, 86, Sturgis, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at Sturgis Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. Services will be at 4 p.m. today at United Methodist Church in Sturgis, with the Rev. Keith Nelson officiating.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m., Mon., at Highland Cemetery, Inola, with Rev. Ron Hay officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of the Inola Funeral Home and Crematory.
Joy was born September 24, 1920, at Fall City, NE, to Herman and Nellie (Merriam) Ruppel. She grew up in Inola and graduate from Inola High School and attended college in Kansas City.
Joy married Jim Collins in 1951, at Tulsa, OK.
Joy taught elementary school, art and music, in New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and two reservations in South Dakota. She retired in the early 80's where she lived in Deadwood, SD. She had lived the last 16 years in Sturgis.
Survivors include her son, of Sturgis; two granddaughters; one grandson; one great-grandson; and nephew, of Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Nellie Ruppel, one son, Daniel Collins, one brother, Joe Ruppel, and two sisters, Blance and Irma Ruppel.
