Juanita Anne Philipsen, 68, of Whitewood, SD, passed away September 7, 2019, at home, with her husband, Roy, and son, Corey, at her side, after battling cancer.
Juanita was born in Chicago, IL, on October 2, 1950.
Juanita's life was spent between the country and the city. Her loves were hunting, the outdoors, caring for animals, and most importantly, spending time with family, friends, and especially the grandkids and their activities. Juanita grew up with very little, yet thought she had everything and was always willing to share all. She was the same kind of happy, whether it be a dozen roses or a dozen dandelions; her excitement and appreciation was the same "awesome." Simply put, Juanita was a very kind, loving, caring, trustworthy, humble lady. She accepted what is, let go of what was, and had faith in what will be.
Juanita spent nearly 40 years preparing taxes, starting in a truck stop in Sturgis, SD, to having her own personal tax business in Whitewood. She was often referred to as the "Tax Lady." Juanita was active in the Whitewood community and was secretary for the Whitewood Fire Dept. for several years.
Juanita married Roy Philipsen November 2, 2015.
She had two sons, Corey and Matt Buckley; and three grandchildren, Caitlin, Madyson, and Kayden. She gave them everything. time, a listening ear, and unconditional love.
Juanita is survived by Roy, her husband of a lifetime; her sons, Corey and Matt; three grandchildren, Caitlin, Madyson, and Kayden; brothers, Ron (Jewel) Wielander, Sturgis, Chucky (Doris) Isenberg, Belle Fourche, Mike Isenberg, Belle Fourche, and Dennis Strege, Las Vegas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her extended traveling family, Larry (Ruth) Grossfield and Lynn Grossfield; and a very special uncle, Tom (Dianne) Langlee, Prescott, AZ.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Harriette Isenberg; brother, Edward Isenberg; a niece; and a nephew.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 12, 2019, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Whitewood, SD. A private family interment will be at Bear Butte Cemetery at a later date.
