Obituary

Judge Elrae Rosander, 89, of Nisland, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the David M. Dorsett Healthcare Center in Spearfish.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Pastor Doug Clark officiating. Burial follows at Black Hills National Cemetery with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the Funeral Chapel

Judge was born on May 14, 1924, at Isabel, SD, to Oscar and Florence (Lyke) Rosander. He attended grade school at Van Dusen School of Ziebach County. He attended one year of high school at Isabel and half a year as a sophomore in high school at Glad Valley, SD. Judge was in the US Navy from December 26, 1944, to February 5, 1946, as a carpenter mate of third class. Judge met the love of his life, Lois Ann Leinweber, in Colorado in the 1940's, and they were married on November 24, 1948 at Evergreen, CO. Lois was working as a typist for Montgomery Ward in Lakewood, CO. Judge was self-employed as a carpenter and excavator after their marriage.

Judge and Lois Rosander have lived in Nisland from 1984 to 2013, for 29 years; they have been married for 64 and a half years at the time of his death.

Judge was a lifetime member of the Sunshine Masonic Lodge of Isabel, SD.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Anne Rosander of Nisland; sisters, Elva Bell, 97 years old, of Belle Fourche, and Florene Reyman, 95 years old, and formerly of Belle Fourche; three granddaughters; three grandsons; two great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; and a special niece, nephew, and neighbors.

Judge is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Eldon Rosander, 97 years old, of Rapid City; daughter, Carol Marie Wright of Virginia on April 21, 2003; and a son, Glen Alan Rosander of Moorpark, CA on October 12, 2011.

Judge was a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, and a special uncle.

His hobbies are looking forward to seeing the sunshine mornings, and being a handy man. Judge and Lois both liked to watch the news, Jeopardy, and Wheel of Fortune on the television.

A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Association.
