Karen Anne
Jordan
Apr 28, 1943 — Oct 24, 2019
Rapid City
Karen Jordan, 76, died Thursday, October 24 2019 at her home in Rapid City, SD.
Karen was born April 28, 1943, in Wheeling, West Virginia. She grew up along the Ohio River between Wheeling, WV and Steubenville, OH. Her family moved to Flora, IL. when Karen was in high school. It was while Karen and her family were in Flora that she met Phil Jordan. The two fell in love, becoming inseparable and were married on September 19, 1961. Phil re-entered active duty in the U.S. Air Force on 1 Oct 1961 and the two began a military life which took them to North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, and South Dakota. While Phil pursued his military career, Karen often worked in banking as a teller or in customer service. After Phil retired from the U.S. Air Force, Karen worked at the law enforcement academy for the state of Wyoming where she stayed for almost 5 years before she retired.
Karen was a vibrant wife, mother, and grandmother who had a positive influence on all who knew her. She had a zest for life and encouraged many others who were battling cancer like she was. One of her favorite sayings was, "If you stumble, make it part of the dance." She loved the outdoors, mountains, flowers, and sunsets. Her and Phil loved getting in their vehicle and taking a drive, just to see where the road would take them.
She is survived by her husband, Phil; her daughter, Rebecca Rabon; son-in-law, Wayne; and two grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth, all from Bellevue, NE.
