Kathleen Marie Morrell was born May 4, 1929, in Rapid City to Pete and Helen Borup. She attended grade school at White Owl and High School in Sturgis. Kathleen married the love of her life, Herb Morrell, April 7, 1948. They were married for 64 years and together had two sons, Gary and Larry. Kathleen worked for 23 years at Chase’s Department Store, and 12 years at Rushmore Office Supply. Kathleen retired in 1991. Herb and Kathleen spent winters in Tucson, AZ, for 16 years. After Herbs death, Kathleen spent winters in Oro Valley, AZ, with her son Gary and his wife Anna. Kathleen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, and a past deacon of the church. She was a member of the Sturgis Fire Department Auxiliary, along with being a member of the Good Sam and Black Hills Hill Billies camping clubs, and a member of the Sturgis Senior Citizens Center.

Kathleen is survived by one son, Gary Morrell, Oro Valley, AZ, three grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Della Hall and Donna (Frank) Boner, and several nieces and nephews. Kathleen’s pride and joy was her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Herb, her parents, two brothers, one sister, her son Larry, one grandson, two brothers-in-law, and one daughter-in-law.
