Kathy was born November 6, 1952, at Pierre, SD, to Paul and Gladys (Herron) Schmidt. She grew up in Pierre until moving to Black Hawk. She graduated from Rapid City Central High School in 1979. After high school she worked as a commercial baker in Rapid City for many years.

Kathryn "Kathy" Marie Brown, 65, Black Hawk, died Thursday, November 1, 2018, at her residence in Black Hawk.

Survivors include her husband, Dan Brown; son, T.J. (Melinda) Brown, Spokane, WA; daughters, Paula (Sam) Sorcic, Spearfish, SD, Kristin (Joshua) High Rock, Box Elder; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; sisters, Diana Polvin, Sioux Falls, Patty (Darrell) Moore, Rapid City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Eddie Schmidt; sister, Paula Jean Schmidt; son, Arlo Brown.
