Kathy Laine Rowett, 54, Sturgis, died at the home of her parents on Friday, December 28, 2007.

Kathy was born on January 10, 1953, to Neal and Elaine (Ingalls) Rowett at Deadwood, SD. She attended grade school in St. Onge and Spearfish and graduated from Rapid City High School in 1973. She worked at the Fort Meade Veterans Hospital for 31 1/2 years.

Survivors include her parents, Neal and Elaine Rowett of rural Sturgis; three brothers, Tom and Jan Rowett of Belle Fourche, Clair and Elaine Rowett of Sturgis, and Ross Rowett of Chelan, WA; one sister, Janie and Lonnie Humbracht of Spearfish; six nieces; four nephews; four grand nephews; and many extended family members and friends. Kathy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis and she was a member of the First Presbyterian Choir. She also loved to play her accordion and spend time with her family.

Funeral services were conducted at the First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, January 2, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Denzel Nonhof officiating. Burial followed at the Bear Butte Cemetery.

A memorial has been established to the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis.
