Keith Wilson Milberg, 81, Newell, died Friday, December 17, 2010 at the Belle Fourche Regional Senior Care Center.
A memorial has been established to the Newell Christian Fellowship Church.
Visitation will be noon until 9 p.m. on Monday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. A family prayer service will begin at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Newell Christian Fellowship Church in Newell with Pastor Sean Carney officiating. Burial follows at the Wilson Cemetery.
Keith was born March 14, 1929 at Newell, SD, to Ralph and Charlotte (Reid) Milberg. He grew up on the family farm on Horse Creek and attended the Milberg school through the 8th grade. Following his graduation from Newell High School, Keith attended agriculture school in Brookings. He returned to the family farm and married Eleanor Eickelman at Newell on June 14, 1951.
The couple made their home on the family farm for the next 33 years. Keith was active in his church, Newell Golf Course and Charter Member of the Newell Lions Club, where he was awarded the Melvin Jones Award. Keith was a member of the Elks and Moose Club. He was a member of the Belle Fourche Hospital Board. Keith was a 4H leader and raised registered rambouillet and targhee sheep. He was one of the first consignors to the Newell Ram Sale and was a strong supporter of the Butte County Fair.
Keith owned and operated the Newell Rec Center and Bowling alley for ten years. Keith and Eleanor moved to Newell in 1977. He was an insurance agent for American Family and Harding and Perkins County Farm Mutual. After retiring in 1995 he enjoyed spending more time fishing and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Eleanor Milberg, Newell; daughters, Susan (Michael) Hencey, Rapid City, Cindy (Brent) Riley, Spearfish; one sister, Kay (Dave) Kaul, Rapid City; also 4 grandchildren, Bryan (Jessica) Riley, Carmen (Chris) Jewell, Adele Riley and Emylie Hencey, and three great grandchildren; also numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
