RAPID CITY - Kelly Wade Madison, 44, died Monday, April 16, 2012, at Fort Meade Veterans Affairs Medical Center near Sturgis.
He was born Feb. 10, 1968, at Big Springs, Texas, to Walter and Barbara (Lockwood) Madison. He grew up in a military family and traveled throughout the United States. He graduated from Douglas High School and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1987. He served in Nevada, Korea and Alaska before being honorably discharged. He worked for the Alaska Game, Fish and Parks before returning to the Black Hills. He worked at HS Precision building guns.
He married Shannon Pillen on May 7, 2010, in Sturgis. The couple made their home in the Black Forest Area of the Black Hills.
Kelly liked motorcycles, shooting guns and his dog.
Survivors include his wife, Shannon Madison, Black Forest; parents, Walter and Barbara Madison, Black Forest; brother, Anthony (Barb) Madison, Denver; maternal grandmother, Donna Albee, Newton, Iowa; stepsons, Skyler and Shaye Christensen, Sturgis, and Cade Chynoweth, New Mexico; and nephews, Cory and Jamie Madison.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers; one grandmother; mother-in-law, Bonnie Pillen; and brother-in-law, Paul Pillen.
Private family services will be at a later date.
