Obituary

Kenneth "Kenny" Jordan Finck passed away on May 27, 2024, in Spearfish, SD. Kenny was born on June 4, 1940, in Okaton, SD, to Waldo and Clara (Jordan) Finck. He was the ninth of 10 children born to them. Kenny loved his family ranch in Okaton, SD, so much that he later bought it from his parents and continued to ranch there for many years. He was known to always be available to help many of the neighboring ranchers with cattle roundups, and branding. Kenny was an avid horseback rider and worked to break and train horses in the area.

On January 15, 1967, Kenny and Judy Brunson were married in Rapid City, SD. They continued to ranch in Okaton for many years but also bought a home in Murdo where their daughters, Kim and Koreen attended school. They all loved to go to the ranch to garden and it became a summer family tradition.

In 1975, Kenny and his family moved to Nisland, SD, where he then began his farming career. Kenny loved to farm and raise livestock. He learned to irrigate his farmland from neighboring farmers and was eager to help them in any way he could in return. Kenny loved to work and was rarely idle. In addition to farming, he worked for Morman's Feed for many years and then later delivered fuel for A & F Oil, and Delcan Oil. He was known by many as the "Tootsie Roll Man" because he always carried along candy for the kids on his route. In his later years, he worked for 5F Feedlot. Kenny was loved and admired by all who knew him and was known for his infectious smile.

After retiring from farming Kenny and Judy moved to Newell, SD, and continued to raise livestock on a small farm outside of town. They lived there together until Judy's death in October of 2011.

Kenny is survived by his daughters: Kim (Larry) Nelson, and Koreen (Matt) O'Dea; grandchildren: Jesse Jensen, Tessa Downey, Kennen Rosencranz, Cammryn Nelson, Kennedy Carpenter, Torrey Nelson, Talon Nelson, and Chastin Nelson; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters: Norma Oldenberg, and Ironis Poppe; and many nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Judy, grandson, Krayden Krause, his parents, Waldo Finck, and Clara (Jordan) Finck, brothers, Emil Finck, and Bob Finck, and sisters, Irene Brink, Alice Stroppel, Bonna Lindquist, Betty Block, and Joyce Dykema.
