Kenneth "Ken" Goeringer, age 76, passed away at his home in Rapid City, SD, on July 31, 2025.
Ken was born in Hull, Iowa on August 27, 1948 to Otto and Viola Goeringer. He graduated from Boyden-Hull Community School in 1966. After graduation, he worked for his uncle as a mechanic at the Goeringer Garage in Hull. In April 1968 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was deployed to Da Nang Air Base in Vietnam with the 366th TFW Gunfighters.
After his discharge from the Air Force in 1972, Ken moved to Rapid City. He worked as a mechanic at the Mobil station at Baken Park before going to work at Safeway, where he started as a night stocker and moved up to manager of frozen foods and produce.
In 1985, Ken moved to Bellevue, WA to be closer to his parents and sister. He worked the night shift at Ridgeway Packing and later for Albertsons and then Kmart. He retired after his father's death in 2001 and dedicated the next 22 years to helping care for his mother. In 2024, he moved back to Rapid City to be closer to his brother.
Ken leaves behind his sister, Janice (George) Johnson of Bellevue, WA and his brother, Merle (Judy) Goeringer of Rapid City along with several nephews and nieces, many great-nephews and nieces, and two great-great nephews.
He will be buried at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
