IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth Floyd
Perry
July 5, 1933 – May 4, 2019
Ken was one of the last babies to be born at the Homestake Hospital in Lead on July 5, 1933, to Theodore and Mary (Stucker) Perry. He attended school in Lead, graduating in 1951. Shortly after graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Marlene Peyton. They were blessed with a daughter, Colleen.
Holding a variety of jobs at a young age, Ken developed a very strong work ethic. He particularly enjoyed his employment at Ruby's gas station in Deadwood. He then went on to work for Homestake for nearly 40 years, retiring in 1992. He was active in the Lead/Deadwood Junior and Little League Baseball and Softball organizations, serving as both a coach and an umpire. Ken was also active in both the Deadwood and Spearfish United Methodist Churches, serving on various committees as needed.
He enjoyed traveling, camping, and framing jig saw puzzles he put together. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in school and athletic activities.
Ken was a kind and loving man that will always be remembered by his family and friends. He will be missed by all that knew him.
Although recent illness made it difficult, Ken almost always participated in the Lead Class of 51 monthly reunions and enjoyed reminiscing with his classmates and their spouses.
Ken was especially grateful for all of the doctors, nurses, and dialysis staff that were so kind to him over the years. His daughter, Colleen, was also his faithful and loving caregiver, and they had a special bond.
