Kenneth E. Peterson, 75, Sturgis, SD passed away Friday, July 11, 2025 at Monument Health Rapid City.

Ken was born July 4, 1950 in Wagner, SD to Kenneth and Olga (Haeuszer) Peterson. He graduated in 1968 from Wagner High school and for a time he attended Nettleton College in Sioux Falls.

Ken brought his family to the Black Hills early in their lives (1978). After going through a divorce, Ken remarried Deborah Pokorney in August of 1983. This was the beginning of 41 years of married life, as they watched their family grow. Later in life, Ken loved watching his grandkids and going to their sporting events and concerts.

Among his hobbies, Ken loved NASCAR, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. He enjoyed   working and talking to people; making many lifelong friends along the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Olga and Kenneth Peterson; sister, Karen Carpenter; and brother-in-law, Rick Carpenter.

Ken is survived by his wife, Deb; children, Lisa Peterson and Tera Davis; Stepchildren, Danny Tobias, Miguel (Betsey) Tobias, and Melissa (Brian) Hansen and grandchildren, Abby, Ross, Ian, Orion, Xavier, Kayda, Sophia, Maya, Taylor, Isabella, and Peyton.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 18, 2025 at 12:00 noon, Kinkade Funeral Chapel, Sturgis, SD.
