Kenneth "Ken" Ray Weifenbach, 75, Hot Springs, SD passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the State Veterans Home in Hot Springs, SD.
Funeral Services for Ken will be at 1 PM, Monday, September 30 at the Black Hills Funeral Home in Sturgis, with visitation one-hour prior to the service.
Kenneth Ray Weifenbach was born January 6, 1949 in Aberdeen to Henry Hans Julius and Evelyn Matilda (Severson) Weifenbach. He was raised in the Aberdeen area. Shortly after finishing high school, he volunteered for the U.S. Air Force, receiving draft papers two weeks later. During his time in the Air Force, he served at Travis Air Force Base, CA, Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, and a six-month tour in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Aberdeen for a time, before moving to Rapid City, where he worked as a jewelry polisher at SD Gold Company for many years. He later moved to the South Dakota State Veterans Home in Hot Springs in 2007.
Ken is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Joshua Engert) Weifenbach, Denver, CO; twin-sister, Kathy (Glenn) Heim, Gillette, WY, sister, Norma (John) Taylor, Moorhead, MN; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and five sisters.
