Obituary

Kenton “Will” Scott Williams, 67, of Lead, South Dakota, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Monument Health Rapid City Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13, at Black Hills National Cemetery. Directly followed by a celebration of life at the Side Hack Saloon.

Kenton Scott Williams was born on June 27, 1958, in Winchester, Indiana, to Earl Morton and Marcina L.(Oler) Williams. He was raised in Greensfork, Indiana, where he resided until enlisting in the United States Army in 1978 at the age of 20. Following his military service, he relocated to Spearfish, South Dakota, where he lived for a time with his brother and sister-in-law. While working in Deadwood at BB Cody’s, he met Theresa Tabone, and they were married on January 2, 1996. The couple had recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Kenton held a deep love for his wife and often brought her Starbucks coffee and lunch while she was at work. He also cherished his children, Karson S. Williams and Nicole E. Tabone, as well as his grandchildren, Makenzie and Ryder Tirado.

In his younger years, Kenton enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a lifelong passion for riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles. He had a deep appreciation for music, particularly blues and rock and roll. He was known for his sociable nature and took great pride in his home.

He was known as Kenton to his friends and family in Indiana. After joining the Army, he became known as “Will” to his friends and family in South Dakota.

Kenton is survived by his wife, Theresa; his children, Karson S. Williams and Nicole E. Tabone; his grandchildren, Makenzie and Ryder Tirado; his brother, Kevin (Kathy) Williams; his niece, Karman; and his nephew, Zeb Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marcina Williams.
