Obituary

Kim Levert Lettau, 54, Sturgis, died at his residence in Sturgis on Friday, July 18, 2008.

Visitation will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Believers Fellowship Church in Sturgis with Pastor John Williamson officiating. Burial follows at the Bear Butte Cemetery in Sturgis.

Kim was born February 7, 1954 in Sturgis to Levert and Joyce (Aga) Lettau. He grew up on the family dairy farm East of Sturgis. He attended Alkali rural school and graduated from Sturgis Brown High School in 1972. Kim worked for several years for Wayne Erickson learning the building trade. Except for a few short periods working for other Black Hills Contractors, Kim spent most of his working life as a self employed builder and finish carpenter in the western half of South Dakota.

Kim loved to fish, camp, hunt and ride motorcycles in his leisure time. His outgoing personality won him favor with his customers and friends.

He is survived by his two sons, Dustin and Brandon Lettau, Yankton; brothers, Larry (Ruth) Lettau, Wayne (Susan) Lettau, all of Sturgis, Dan (Tammy) Lettau, Pierre; sisters, Kela (Steve) Keiry, Nisland, Blinda (Bob) Tope, Belle Fourche; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.

Kim was preceded in death by his parents, Levert and Joyce, step mother Janet Lettau Kivimaki.

A memorial has been established for the education of his children.
